Making a contribution to society while meeting new people and making friends? Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
That’s why you should consider volunteering for Budaya Berbagi, a community that inspires people to have the habit of sharing food for the impoverished to support United Nations Goal 2: To end hunger. Budaya Berbagi events are held at least once a month, and are held in various places. The meeting point is usually in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta Utara, Indonesia.
So, what do you do when you join a Budaya Berbagi event?
You’re going to meet your new team at the meeting point, say hi, draw cute things on the lunch bags, write some positive notes on post-its to be included inside the lunch bags, pack the food, and finally distribute them to those in need. Oh, I forgot to mention that you can bring your friends too! The more, the merrier!
So, for this time, we wet to Kampung Dao, a slum located behind ITC Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua. It was burned to ashes on September 16, 2017 and left them nothing but their lives. In order to ease their suffering, we successfully donated 300 lunch bags, 400 boxes of powdered milk, and also 55 backpacks for the children. After the job’s done, we spent some more time interacting with them and playing with the children. Lots of fun!
